Israel to Release 183 Palestinian Prisoners in Ceasefire Agreement
A significant expansion of the planned release, marking the fourth exchange under the Gaza ceasefire deal.
Israel is set to release 183 Palestinian prisoners on Saturday, as part of the fourth exchange in the ongoing Gaza ceasefire deal.
Initially, it was reported that 90 prisoners would be freed, but Palestinian advocacy groups later updated the figure to 183.
The release includes two separate lists of prisoners: 72 arrested before the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel, and 111 detained after the attack that led to the escalation in Gaza.
The move comes after Gaza militants released 15 hostages following the ceasefire, which began on January 19. Among those set to be freed are three hostages: Yarden Bibas, Keith Siegel (a U.S. citizen), and Ofer Kalderon (a French citizen).
This development follows Israel’s ongoing releases of Palestinian prisoners, including women and minors, since the ceasefire's implementation.
