‘Looks Like a Wig’: Online Users Express Concern Over Kate Middleton

During a royal visit to London’s Natural History Museum, Kate Middleton drew attention for her hair, sparking speculation about a wig and concerns about her health. The appearance came as King Charles, also battling cancer, gave a rare update during a hospital visit.
‘Looks like a wig’: online users express concern over Kate Middleton.

Kate Middleton and Prince William embarked on a royal engagement today (Thursday), but much of the public conversation centered not on their visit, but on the Duchess of Cambridge’s hair.

Some online users claimed her hairstyle appeared artificial, while others worried it signaled lingering illness following her cancer battle.

Last week, Middleton was photographed with lighter blond hair than usual, leading to speculation that she might be wearing a wig.

Today, she and William visited London’s Natural History Museum, where they met with schoolchildren.

Middleton naturally attracted most of the media focus, given her recovery from cancer diagnosed last year.

She completed chemotherapy in September 2024 and announced remission in January of this year.

Since then, she has made only limited public appearances.

“It looked like AI or a wig,” wrote one commenter, a sentiment echoed by many others.

Some even questioned whether she was still unwell: “Is she okay? Her eyes look tired,” another user asked.

One wrote: “It makes sense after chemotherapy. I went through it eight years ago and lost all my hair.”

Others pushed back, urging restraint: “Please stop with the negativity,” and “Some of these comments are appalling. Even if you don’t like it, why sink to that level? Stop being so judgmental.” Most agreed that Middleton always looks elegant, though many felt the new color did not suit her.

A few even offered fashion advice: “She’s aging and needs a lighter shade because of the gray, but keep the dye on for less time.”

The museum visit marked the couple’s first official event since their summer holiday, which included a luxury yacht trip through Greece valued at $40 million and a stay with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Balmoral Castle.

King Charles, 76, who is also battling cancer, visited Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in Smethwick yesterday.

Asked by 73-year-old patient Matthew Shinda about his health, the King simply replied, “Not too bad.”

Shinda, who has prostate cancer, shared that his diagnosis had been delayed.

Charles responded: “I’m sorry to hear that, it’s very frustrating. Part of the problem is detecting it early. But the good thing is they are diagnosing faster and faster. There is always hope.”

Another patient, 85-year-old Jacqueline Page, joked that she was “falling apart.” The King replied: “I know, it’s awful, as I’m finding out myself. Things work much less well after 70.”
