The Brisbane City Council has released its 2025–26 budget, pledging to maintain the lowest residential rates in Southeast Queensland while forgoing any new levies, including a cyclone recovery tax.

The mayor emphasized disciplined financial management, highlighting a projected 10 percent budget surplus equivalent to A$400 million and a deliberate A$470 million reduction in spending to safeguard against unforeseen events.

The council aims to balance fiscal responsibility with infrastructure and services delivery under the long‑term Brisbane Vision 2031 framework.
