Keir Starmer, leader of the Labour Party, reaffirmed his identity as a socialist and progressive in a recent speech in Lancing, West Sussex.

While acknowledging that economic constraints prevent him from fulfilling all pledges made during his 2020 leadership campaign, Starmer emphasized honesty with the electorate regarding the state of the economy.

He discussed his working-class upbringing and economic stability, stating that he had kept 'most' of his pledges but had to reconsider others, such as abolishing tuition fees, due to economic damage.

Criticism from the SNP and Green Party highlighted concerns over tuition fees, with SNP candidate Carol Monaghan urging voters to oppose fee hikes and Green Party's Molly Scott-Cato condemning the current higher education funding model.

Starmer underlined his commitment to 'working people' and prioritizing the nation's needs over party interests, seeking to reassure voters of Labour's transformation and reliability.
