Italy and Wales Set for Six Nations Clash at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico

The men's Six Nations match is scheduled for Saturday, 8 February at 14:15 GMT at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico with both teams facing recent performance challenges.
Italy and Wales will face each other in the men's Six Nations fixture at Rome's Stadio Olimpico on Saturday, 8 February, with kick-off scheduled for 14:15 GMT.

The match will be broadcast on ITV1 and S4C, with live radio coverage on BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio Wales, and BBC Radio Cymru, as well as text commentary and highlights on the BBC Sport website and app.

Italy recently played against Scotland at Murrayfield, a match that was level at nineteen-nineteen before Italy eventually lost.

Head coach Gonzalo Quesada attributed the result to a lack of a winning mentality.

Italy captain Michele Lamaro has previously expressed concerns over the conduct during a Cardiff encounter, citing issues with pre-match arrangements and the treatment of players' families.

Wales are currently on a losing streak, with a fourteenth consecutive defeat set to affect their world ranking.

In their opening game of the tournament, individual statistics highlighted Jac Morgan as having made the most carries and covered the most metres, while Tomos Williams led in passes, though Wales did not score against France.

Wales head coach Warren Gatland has also raised concerns regarding an injury to full-back Liam Williams.

Number eight Taulupe Faletau is returning for his first match since the twenty twenty-three World Cup and is set to earn his 105th cap, moving him to fifth on the all-time list, while Eddie James is replacing injured centre Owen Watkins, marking the thirty-seventh different backline combination in the last sixty tests for Wales.

For Italy, Federico Ruzza recorded the highest number of lineouts in the Six Nations last week, and the team has opted to include six forwards on the bench.

Italy have not recorded a home win against Wales in the Six Nations for the past ten years.

The fixture forms part of the ongoing Six Nations tournament.
